Serge started at 19 years old as a restaurant assistant at Auberge de l’Ill, then he quickly became Head Sommelier. His expertise has been recognised and rewarded beyond Illhaeusern: Best Sommelier in France 1983, Best Sommelier in Europe and winner of the Master of Port contest in 1988, and Best Sommelier in the World and UDSF Head Sommelier in 1989.
